kernel: av7110 negative array offset

Published Feb 2, 2011

Description

The dvb_ca_ioctl function in drivers/media/dvb/ttpci/av7110_ca.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.38-rc2 does not check the sign of a certain integer field, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a negative value.

Red Hat statement

This issue did not affect the version of the Linux kernel as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 as it did not include support for ULE (Unidirectional Lightweight Encapsulation). We have included a fix for this issue in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5 and Red Hat Enterprise MRG however the affected module is not build by default.
